Color Club Poptastic (Neon Pink) Swatch/Swatches

17 Jun

There were huge sales going on in my little city yesterday, so, even thought I’m completely broke at the moment (thanks, weddings), I bought one nail polish by Color Club called Poptastic. This is from their Spring 2010 line, so it’s not a new colour, but it’s still amazing!

Here’s what it looks like:

This is what the colour looks like in natural lighting…. and this……

It may seem red-red based in pictures, but in real life you can definitely tell it’s a blue-based polish. The formula is smooth and creamy and does not dry too quickly on the nail so you don’t have to worry about it clumping while you paint it on! This is TWO COATS of the polish; one coat is translucent so you’ll need two for sure. Three would make it 100% opaque. It is quite a bright creme neon pink and is lighter than other neons, which I love! The darker neons do not seem as bright in lower-lighting. You will not be disappointed buying this polish! I believe it is only available at hair salons or nail boutiques. I paid $5.00 Cdn for it, but keep in mind it was on sale. Anyhow, it’s Sunday, so I plan on relaxing for the remainder of the day! 🙂

Love y’all!

Covergirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation – A Review

27 May

WOW, it has been a long time since I last blogged… I sincerely apologize.

Okay, let me start at the beginning.

I recently made a trip to Sephora and purchased Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 in 05 Neutral and Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush in 08 Transparency Neutral, both of which have gotten rave reviews and both of which I really like.

HOWEVER, these products cost me about 30 dollars Canadian… EACH. That’s a whopping 60 dollars for just two measly containers of makeup!!!

Since I cannot afford to wear about $5.00 on my face all the time, I decided to buy a drugstore foundation for the not-so-important days of my life.

On a whim (and after much colour swatching from different brands of foundation) I decided to try Covergirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation which I bought in 320 Aspen. I have used Covergirl’s foundations in the past, so I didn’t mind trying a different one this time around. And a bonus: it was on sale! So, what the heck!

I put it on for the first time this morning (about 7 hours ago) and it still appears to be covering nicely. It is a lightweight foundation, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for wintertime (unless you live somewhere in which it DOESN’T get to -40 in the dead of January). I made the stupid mistake of rushing this morning, and skipped putting on powder, so my face does appear to be a bit oily, but that is normal for my skin type (combination/dry-combination/oily). When I first put it on in the morning, I looked ghostly pale and was worried that everyone would be able to tell I was wearing makeup (I hate that feeling), but after a few minutes of settling into my skin, it looked quite nice and matched well. As for red marks, I only have a few, but since mine are quite noticeable, it didn’t cover them as well as I had hoped. Had I added another layer or built it up, it probably would have covered them. The nice thing about this makeup is that it doesn’t really feel like you are wearing anything on your face.

Overall, I would give it an 7.5 or 8 out of ten. I would recommend this foundation to others, but only to those who are not severely acne prone and only wish for a light to medium coverage. Otherwise it has a beautiful radiant-looking finish, and it seems to last quite a while.

Thanks for reading, my dears!

Water Is A Miracle Worker

15 Apr

I’m so sorry I haven’t blogged lately. My MacBook crashed and I lost all of my files… However the kind and wonderful technician at the Apple store found them for me! My laptop is still there due to it needing a hardware part or something to that degree. So here I am, typing on my iPod touch. It sucks, to be honest.

Anyhow, what happened to me via the drinking of tons of water was so worth blogging on an iPod.

Lately I’ve been breaking out alot and I’m guessing it is because of exam stress. Well, just yesterday I decided to drink more water. So I drank tons of water (with a slice of lime squeezed into it!) all day long. Lo and behold, I wake up this morning and my skin has 80% fewer zits than it did yesterday morning! I was actually stunned! I don’t know it was because of the lime or what it was, but it worked!

So, if you struggle with the occasional (bad) breakout like I do, DRINK WATER!!!!!!!!!

That is all. 🙂

Love y’all!

(Mostly) Spring Favourites

1 Apr

These are some of my favourite polish colours for spring and summer of 2012.

From left to right: Sally Hansen Insta-Dry “Whirlwind White”, “Pink Blink”, and “Fuchsia Flare”. Essie “Little Brown Dress”, “Sand Tropez”, “Play Date”, “St. Lucia Lilac”. Essie Luxeffects Topcoat “Shine of The Times”. Revlon “Extra Life No Chip Top Coat”.

Little Brown Dress is a bit too dark for spring, but it works well for an accent nail!

This is a swatch of Essie “St. Lucia Liliac”, which I painted on my mom’s nails earlier today. It is definitely one of my favourite Essie colours of all time! Perfect for spring. This is two coats of St. Lucia and one coat of the Relvon Top Coat.

This is a swatch of Essie “Sand Tropez” which I have on my nails right now. I have searched high and low for a beachy, nude nail colour for spring, and I think I hit the jackpot with this one! It’s the perfect mixture of grey and brown. It looks exactly like sand! This is two coats of Sand Tropez and one coat of Revlon Top Coat.

Here are some of the colours up close so you guys can see their beauty for yourselves!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in “Whirlwind White”.

Essie in “Little Brown Dress”.

Essie in “Sand Tropez”.

Essie in “St. Lucia Lilac”.

Essie in “Play Date”.

Essie Luxeffects in “Shine of The Times”.
This is such a beautiful slightly holographic glitter that I had to add more than one picture! 🙂

And last, but not least, my favourite top coat of all time! Revlon “Extra Life No Chip Top Coat”. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. There is NOTHING like this top coat! It makes my nails hard as rock and you can sleep on it without worrying if your nails will have ‘pillow prints’ on them the next morning! Fabulous stuff!

That’s it for today.

Have a lovely day, my dears!

When in France…

31 Mar

I’m not actually in France, and this manicure isn’t actually what I have on my nails right now.

However, a few months ago, I gave myself a french manicure, took pictures, and forgot all about them. So, you lucky readers get to see them now! Voila!

For the white tips, I used two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in ‘Whirlwind White’, as well as nail stickers to keep the line nice and straight. You can buy french nail stickers at any drugstore (I got mine from Shoppers Drug Mart). I don’t remember what kind they were, but if you ask the person working in the cosmetics department, they will be able to direct you to some ample choices for stickers. I painted one coat of Rimmel Lycra+Minerals in ‘442 French Rose’ overtop. This colour is a sheer light pink and is perfect for softening the hard white line. After that, I put one coat of Revlon ‘Extra Life No Chip Top Coat’ on and there you have it!

I just have to say that the Revlon top coat is one of the best I’ve ever used in my life! It makes my nail polish as hard as ROCK! I would recommend it to anyone, anytime, anywhere!

Pretty In Pink!

25 Mar

The other day I was looking an manicures online and saw a lot of ombre nails floating around. But, since I don’t have five similar (but different in shade) pink polishes, I decided to do a makeshift ombre manicure. I hope you like!

The two colours I used were Sally Hansen Insta Dry, of which the darker is called Fuchsia Flare and the lighter was Pink Blink. What I did was paint the three inner nails on each of my hands the darker pink, and the last two (ring and pinky fingers) the lighter pink. Lots of people thought this was a cool idea!

Also, my birthday was the other day (March 20th). My mom made this beautiful cake for me!!!!! Isn’t it lovely?

Alright guys, school is looking to be a bit crazy for me this week, so I may not post for a while. But I hope you enjoyed this one!
