Covergirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation – A Review

27 May

WOW, it has been a long time since I last blogged… I sincerely apologize.

Okay, let me start at the beginning.

I recently made a trip to Sephora and purchased Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 in 05 Neutral and Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush in 08 Transparency Neutral, both of which have gotten rave reviews and both of which I really like.

HOWEVER, these products cost me about 30 dollars Canadian… EACH. That’s a whopping 60 dollars for just two measly containers of makeup!!!

Since I cannot afford to wear about $5.00 on my face all the time, I decided to buy a drugstore foundation for the not-so-important days of my life.

On a whim (and after much colour swatching from different brands of foundation) I decided to try Covergirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation which I bought in 320 Aspen. I have used Covergirl’s foundations in the past, so I didn’t mind trying a different one this time around. And a bonus: it was on sale! So, what the heck!

I put it on for the first time this morning (about 7 hours ago) and it still appears to be covering nicely. It is a lightweight foundation, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for wintertime (unless you live somewhere in which it DOESN’T get to -40 in the dead of January). I made the stupid mistake of rushing this morning, and skipped putting on powder, so my face does appear to be a bit oily, but that is normal for my skin type (combination/dry-combination/oily). When I first put it on in the morning, I looked ghostly pale and was worried that everyone would be able to tell I was wearing makeup (I hate that feeling), but after a few minutes of settling into my skin, it looked quite nice and matched well. As for red marks, I only have a few, but since mine are quite noticeable, it didn’t cover them as well as I had hoped. Had I added another layer or built it up, it probably would have covered them. The nice thing about this makeup is that it doesn’t really feel like you are wearing anything on your face.

Overall, I would give it an 7.5 or 8 out of ten. I would recommend this foundation to others, but only to those who are not severely acne prone and only wish for a light to medium coverage. Otherwise it has a beautiful radiant-looking finish, and it seems to last quite a while.

Thanks for reading, my dears!
